Welcome to Thursday in jolly ole London. It has definitely been quite the day...after sleep-in due to faulty alarm clocks, we finally managed to work something out so we were up and at them bright and early. Dan being the marvelous man he is even has begun to go get breakfast to avoid making me walk (and thus crabby). We started out at the British Museum. Our favorite exhibit was probably the American Scene...closely followed by the mummies, including the mummified cat because who wouldn't want to bring their pet to the afterlife with them!?
Second on the agenda was some shopping. We were on a mission to find the Tower Record store because according to my book it promised some vinyls and I was hoping to complete my Beatles collection, however only after walking forever did we find out later it was bought out a couple years ago...disadvantage to older guide books. We did find the largest toy store, Hamley's, and we were able to find some gifts for the nieces.
Then we were off again to the Victoria Albert Museum, which Dan was not thrilled about but amused me and just happened to have a good time. We originally went to see The Supremes exhibit because they had costumes and such, however, it wasn't free and we are cheap so instead we walked around and stumbled across some amazing ironwork, which I think Dan is uploading pictures for...including anything he could find with someone cutting off someone else's head...not sure on that one. They also had dresses and other clothing from the 1800's to now which was interesting, although my wedding dress looks way better than any of those...just throwing that out there.
Our day ended with a journey on the London Eye...which was awesome and terrifying all at the same time. It is basically a giant ferris wheel only you can stand and you are in a glass bubble with strangers haha. It was about a 30 minute ride and you could see the whole city so it was marvelous. We also went back a little later in hopes of the Parliament being completely lite, however it wasn't but Dan got some more good night shots, while I stood there waiting and wondering how many more times he will randomly stop without saying anything, but I guess it is worth it in the end. Silly boys.
We have internet until tomorrow so hopefully we will have one more update and then probably not again until after we have left and arrived in Paris. We have made some calls so hopefully you have enjoyed hearing from us. Until next time, cheers!
PS: The accents are awesome, I am hoping to replace my Minnesota one :)
